Kenya and Uganda have been destinations of migration for the Greeks since the end of the 19th century. Initially it was a few risk-taking pioneers and later more people from Greece, Cyprus, Egypt and Tanzania, mainly after the 1950s. The Greek migration resulted from the political and social conditions in the wider southeastern Mediterranean and the consequences of the strategy of the European colonial powers in East Africa. This book studies the Greek presence in this region of Africa for the first time, through a wide range of archives. Additionally, it integrates it into geopolitical and economic upheavals that were taking place in the region. For this reason, we researched the literature that covers the colonial period and extends to the era of independence.
